A double fitted sheet with a genuine 40cm depth

This double fitted sheet measures 135 x 190cm and is made with an extra deep 40cm skirt, fully elasticated all the way round. It is manufactured in Britain, in our own Rochdale factory, in 200 thread count microfibre. Deep fitted sheets in double are the size people most often buy twice — once too shallow, then again properly — and the 40cm cut is what stops that happening.

Why 40cm, and what it fits

A modern double bed fitted sheet has more to cover than it used to. Mattresses have got deeper, and a topper adds another 5cm to 8cm on top. A deep double fitted sheet at 40cm fits mattresses up to that depth, which covers a standard 25cm mattress, a thick pocket-sprung one, and either of those with a topper. If a 30cm sheet has been leaving you short at the corners, this is the size that gives you the headroom.

The fit

Elastic runs a full 360° around the skirt rather than being gathered only at the corners. On a double, where you and whoever you share it with are pulling in opposite directions all night, that continuous grip is what keeps the sheet on the mattress instead of working its way loose. The 200 thread count microfibre holds its shape wash after wash and sits flat once it is fitted.

Every double fitted sheet comes in six colours. White is the timeless hotel choice, crisp and clean against any duvet cover. Light Grey is a soft modern neutral that flatters contemporary bedrooms. Charcoal is a deeper, warmer grey for a cosier, more grounded look. Black is sleek and confident for a high-contrast bedroom. Navy Blue is rich and elegant, adding depth and character. Beige is a calm natural tone that brings warmth and softness.

Washing and care

Machine washable at 40°C and safe to tumble dry on a low heat. Wash similar colours together, particularly the darker shades — black, charcoal and navy blue — to keep the colour looking rich. Take the sheet out promptly once dry and smooth it flat. Avoid dragging or overstretching the corners when fitting and removing it, and store it clean, dry and folded in a cool, airy cupboard.
