A deep, generously filled mattress topper that sits on top of your existing mattress and adds a soft, supportive layer of comfort. If your mattress has gone firm, developed a dip, or simply feels harder than you want it to, a thick topper is the cheapest way to change how your bed feels without replacing the mattress itself. Available in all UK bed sizes.
| Size | Dimensions | Imperial |
|---|---|---|
| Single | 90 × 190 cm | 3ft |
| Double | 135 × 190 cm | 4ft 6in |
| King Size | 150 × 200 cm | 5ft |
| Super King | 180 × 200 cm | 6ft |
These three do different jobs and people often buy the wrong one. A mattress topper changes how the bed feels — it adds softness and depth. A quilted mattress protector adds a thin layer and takes the everyday wear. A waterproof mattress protector stops liquid reaching the mattress. If you want your bed to feel softer, you want the topper. If you want to keep your mattress clean, you want a protector. Many people use a topper with a protector over the top of it, then a deep fitted sheet above both.
Air the topper for a few hours when it first comes out of its packaging so the filling can settle and recover its full depth. Rotate it head to foot every couple of months so it wears evenly. Use a fitted sheet or protector over the top to keep it clean rather than washing the topper frequently, and never fold it tightly for long periods, as that compresses the filling.
It will noticeably improve comfort and even out minor dips, and it is the sensible first thing to try. It cannot repair a mattress with a badly collapsed spring unit — nothing laid on top can.
Only if the sheet is deep enough. A standard 30cm sheet is usually too shallow once a topper is on. Our extra deep 40cm fitted sheets are cut for exactly this situation.
Not once a fitted sheet is stretched over it and the mattress together, which holds both in place.
Yes, and it is one of the most popular uses. A thin guest or sofa-bed mattress becomes far more comfortable with a topper on it.
The soft quilted surface faces upwards, with the plain backing against the mattress.
Toppers are compressed for shipping. Allow 4 to 12 hours out of the bag for the filling to open out fully.

A topper is deeper than most sheets allow for, so pair it with a 40cm extra deep fitted sheet in your size, and add a mattress protector, a 10.5 tog all-season duvet and a pair of hotel pillows. Orders over £30 ship free, so bundling saves on delivery.
