A box pillow — also called a box-edge, gusseted or walled pillow — has a vertical fabric wall sewn between the top and bottom panels. On ours that wall is 8cm deep. Instead of the two panels meeting in a flat seam, the wall creates a squared, three-dimensional shape that holds the filling in place across the whole pillow. The result sits taller on the bed and supports your head evenly from edge to edge.
Each pillow is 74 x 48cm — the standard UK size — with 800g of virgin hollowfibre and a soft poly cotton cover with corded edges. Made at our own base in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. Packs of 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8.
The usual problem with an ordinary pillow is filling migration. Over a few weeks the fibres get pushed outwards, leaving a flat dip exactly where your head rests. The box wall solves that structurally: because the 800g of fill is contained by the 8cm gusset, it cannot bunch or drift. The support you feel on night one is the support you feel months later.
It is also why hotels use them. A pillow that survives industrial laundering without flattening costs less to replace, and the squared silhouette photographs well when the bed is made.

If you sleep on your side or back, wake with neck ache, or find yourself folding your pillow in half for extra height, the box pillow is the better choice — the high, stable loft is exactly what those positions need. Machine wash at 40°C, tumble dry low, do not iron or dry clean. Your pillows arrive vacuum-packed — unroll, fluff both sides to let air in, and allow around 30 minutes (up to 24 hours for full thickness) to reach their full shape. Full instructions in how to wash pillows.
For most side and back sleepers, yes. The box wall stops filling migrating to the edges, so support stays consistent and the pillow keeps its shape far longer. For front sleepers it is too high.
They are the best option we make for side sleepers. The high, even 8cm loft fills the gap between shoulder and head, which is exactly what keeps the neck aligned.
More than a flat pillow of the same footprint, because the 8cm gusset creates extra volume that has to be filled for the walls to stand up. Ours carries 800g against the 700g in our standard-size flat-seam pillows. An under-filled box pillow is worse than no box at all — the walls collapse inward and you are left with a saggy square.
Longer than a flat-seamed pillow, because the fill cannot migrate. The fold test still applies: fold it in half and let go — if it stays folded, replace it.

Yes. The virgin hollowfibre filling is synthetic, so dust mites cannot feed on it the way they can on natural fill.
